The Integrated Program in Biochemistry (IPiB) and the University of Wisconsin–Madison aim to give you the resources you need to succeed. On this page, you’ll find departmental and campus-wide resources for offices and programs across campus that help to ensure your needs are met so that you can focus on your studies and research.
International students, please note that additional resources are available through International Student Services and the International Resources website.
Health and Safety
Graduate students have access to a variety of resources to help maintain your physical and mental health.
- Mental Health: Services are available on-campus through University Health Services.
- Report an Incident: IPiB and the university take student and faculty conduct seriously. To ensure that our community remains safe and inclusive for everyone, it is important that you report incidents of misconduct at UW-Madison, including (but not limited to) academic misconduct, hate, bias, sexual assault, or hazing.
- The Office of Student Assistance and Support (OSAS) is a primary resource to connect students to campus and community resources and to report incidents.
- Graduate Assistants in TA, PA, and/or RA appointments may utilize the Graduate Assistantship Policies and Procedures (GAPP) grievance process to resolve employment-related issues. Examples of matters appropriate for the GAPP grievance process include allegations of violation of GAPP, including allegations of excessive work hours, violations of sick days or vacation policies, or disputes regarding the assignment of duties.
- For issues involving hostile and intimidating behavior by a faculty or staff member, students should contact the Graduate School Assistant Dean for Academic Services. For issues involving civil rights, ADA, Equal Opportunity or Sexual Misconduct, students should contact the Office of Compliance. Learn more about these here.
- Healthcare: If students have been awarded a fellowship, traineeship, or an assistantship with at least a one-third (33.33%) appointment per term (or an equivalent), they qualify for full medical benefits. In order to activate medical insurance benefits, students should contact their department’s/program’s benefits coordinator. Learn more about insurance and medical benefits for domestic and international students here.
